Title: Residential Dining Manager
Nominated by:  Edwin Donnovan Jimenez, Director of Social Enterprises

Jessica has been with UMOM New Day Centers for 7 years. She began as an alumna of the Homegrown Training Program, then moved into a role as Café Cook. From there, she advanced to Catering Lead Cook and currently serves as our Residential Dining Manager.

Jessica has a remarkable gift for uplifting those around her. Her energy is infectious, and students often describe her as both lively and deeply compassionate. What truly sets her apart is her unwavering commitment to service—whether she’s mentoring students, supporting clients, or collaborating with her team. A lifelong learner, Jessica absorbs knowledge with humility and applies it with heart. As Residential Dining Manager, she leads with purpose, ensuring every meal is prepared with care, dignity, and love. Her work transforms food into a vehicle for healing, connection, and hope—perfectly embodying UMOM’s mission to restore lives and rebuild futures.

Jessica played a key role in mentoring and training 62 students last year through UMOM’s culinary program. Her leadership and hands-on guidance helped each student build foundational culinary skills while fostering confidence and professionalism. Jessica’s ability to connect with students—many of whom are navigating significant life transitions—has directly contributed to their growth and retention. Her impact is not only measured in numbers but in the lives she helps transform through food, mentorship, and unwavering support.

On a typical day, Jessica manages kitchen operations while leading menu planning and innovation. She ensures that every meal served is high-quality and thoughtfully prepared. Part of her daily routine includes checking the quality of donated ingredients, allowing her to build menus that keep meal service running smoothly and without disruption. Jessica also makes time for one-on-one coaching with team members, helping them grow their skills and work more efficiently. She’s a steady, supportive presence in the kitchen—checking in with staff, aligning the team around shared goals, and fostering a positive, mission-driven environment.
