Tim Hunter, Executive Chef, embodies a 15-year commitment to the Food Bank of Delaware, dedicating each day to ensuring his team is well-equipped to support diverse students in our programs. Tim’s daily routine begins with team check-ins, fostering collaboration and a supportive environment. His role extends beyond culinary expertise; he keenly observes and understands students, guiding his team on effective instructional methods.

What sets Chef Tim apart is his unwavering prioritization of students. Recognizing the importance of high standards, he invests time in individualized coaching, understanding each student’s unique needs. He actively addresses opportunities for improvement within his team and the case management team, emphasizing the critical role of soft skills training in student success.  His prioritization of students also guides his decision-making on what social enterprises to pursue.  He ensures that students are front and center of every event and they have the opportunity to contribute to menus. Chef Tim’s impact on over 1000 students is profound. Alums who graduated a decade or longer ago will regularly drop in to share his and the program’s impact on their lives. 

Catalyst Kitchens has played a crucial role in amplifying Tim’s work. Tim has connected with peers nationally through events and IDEA groups, gaining insights and sharing expertise. This network has informed his approach, enabling him to overcome challenges and contribute meaningfully to his work. It is an honor to nominate him for the 2023 Catalyst for Change Award.
